Kelsey Joints the Ministry of Education Student Council

Kelsey Wellwood, one of our Grade 7 students, was chosen to join the Ministry of Education Student Council in May, 2010. She had to fill out an application and answer questions like, “What do you think leadership is?” Kelsey was surprised when she received a letter from the Minister of Education, Lenora Dombrowsky. The minister said that Kelsey can be especially proud of her achievement and that only 60 students from across the province were chosen. The purpose of the council is to provide the students with an opportunity to share their ideas and perspectives on the current state of education in our province. Kelsey got to travel to Toronto to see Dombrowsky and her provincial counterparts. There were icebreaking games, educational discussions and a visit to the Legislative Assembly. Kelsey will go to Orillia to the Ontario Educational Leadership Centre to be with the other students on the council. It will last for four days. Kelsey will meet with the council twice a year so that she can provide her perspective on education. The students and staff of Sacred Heart School wish Kelsey all the best!
