Dear Parents and Guardians,

These past two months have been a most excellent continuation of the fantastic learning journey that we began in September. The school (and surrounding environment) have been filled with students actively engaged in learning about the world they live in, the ways in which we interact with it, and answering the questions they generate as they explore. Classrooms indoors and out provide opportunities for students to learn through authentic experiences and to connect the curriculum to the real world in ways that are meaningful to them. In October, students worked hard to raise money for cancer research and participated in the Terry Fox Walk. A team of cross country runners also participated in the Turkey Trot race in Dryden and were they proudly represented our school and performed very well. Our school’s open house also took place and was a great opportunity for the school to open its doors to the community and provided us the opportunity to share some of the terrific things that are going on at Sacred Heart School. As November continues, we remember those who have served for our freedom and give thanks for the opportunities that their sacrifices have made possible for us. November will also be a month of continued focus on academics, both in literacy and numeracy but also in growing together in Christian faith. On a more personal note, It has been a pleasure to spend time getting to know our students, staff and families this term. Whenever I visit a class, the children are eager to share their learning, demonstrate a skill or explain what they are doing. Samples of student work are displayed on the bulletin boards and the ownership and pride students feel from being a part of this school community are evident. Thank you to each member of our learning community for all that you do to make Sacred Heart School such a vibrant and caring place to be.
Yours in Christ,
Brody Marsonet
