Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

We continue to be proud of our students’ EQAO results as an indicator of how well our students are performing and that they continue to close the gap from kindergarten to grade six.  In reading and writing, grade six students improved 24% from their results in grade 3 with 76% of our students scoring at levels 3 and 4.  There were 7 grade six students that performed at level 4 in Math. Your involvement in your child’s schooling supports their learning and thinking.  As well, research continues to verify how important nurturing a growth mindset is to supporting learning.  This means that students see challenges and mistakes as opportunities for growth.  In a fixed mindset student, he or she would see a mistake as a weakness and would not want to be exposed or ask questions that would lead to understanding the problem.  Growth mindset students believe in themselves and know that if they have an open to learning stance they can do well in any area of learning.  One way you can support a growth mindset is to praise your child for persevering when solving tough problems.  Being resilient and having a strong work ethic are character traits that will help them be successful in life.
